Brackley has been twinned with Montabaur since 1975
Brackley’s Mayor, Bernie Tiller, is heading to Brackley’s twin town, Montabaur in Germany today to represent Brackley and the Brackley European Association at the culmination of Montabaur’s annual festival.
He’s accompanied by former Brackley Town Mayor Chris Cartmell.
Brackley was officially twinned with Montabaur in 1975. Last May the 50th anniversary of that partnership was commemorated in Brackley with cultural events, gift exchanges, and a five-course dinner.
Montabaur’s carnival season began back in November and builds up to the finale this weekend.
On his way to Germany Councillor Tiller spoke to us told us he was delighted to be visiting Brackley’s twin town. He said: “I was honoured to receive a personal invitation from the Mayor of Montabaur to join her for the celebrations.
“For me, this visit is an important way to strengthen the close and long-standing ties between Brackley and Montabaur and to spend time in their beautiful town.
“Although I visited many parts of Germany over the years, this will be my very first trip to Montabaur.
“I’m especially looking forward to the party atmosphere, the processions and of course the dancers. while standing alongside their mayor, as she is known in Germany, the Burger Meister Inn.”
