Brackley’s Skatepark takes a step forward
07/12/2021
Funding has been secured to enable the project to move forward
A brand new skatepark in Brackley has moved a step closer. Brackley Town Council has secured the necessary funding enabling the project to move forward, with a target opening date of mid-2022.
The Town Council announced in July 2020 that it had secured £250,000 of funding for the project. However, £150,000 of this came from Section 106 developer contributions from the new housing at Turweston Road South. That money would only be released when a certain number of houses had been sold.
Since then there has been a significant delay in the start of the build. That could have pushed the skatepark project back further, however the Town Council has now secured alternative funding enabling plans to move forward now.
The Skate Park will be constructed near Brackley Leisure Centre. The search for a contractor is due to begin today with the work being put out to tender. It is anticipated that a contractor will be appointed at the start of March 2022 with a public consultation then being undertaken.
Anyone who would like to be involved in the early stages of the project is invited to send their details to office@brackleynorthants-tc.gov.uk.
