The edge of Banbury could be further extended along the Broughton Road if an outline planning application by Lone Star Land is approved.

They have submitted a proposal to build up to 58 homes on a farm field next to Balmoral Avenue, south of work which is already underway behind the Bretch Hill water tower and opposite the Salt Way Farm Shop.

In a design and access statement they say: “The proposals will create a sustainable, attractive new community to the north of Broughton Road. The proposals will be defined by significant green infrastructure and high-quality homes underpinned by an approach where sustainability and healthy living are celebrated.”

The homes proposed are a mix of 2, 3 and 4+ bedroom homes with 30 percent affordable housing.

The applicant says they have engaged with local residents via an online consultation which was publicised through a leaflet drop.   Key issues raised included increased traffic, insufficient infrastructure and flooding and drainage concerns.

Cherwell District Council anticipate making a decision by the end of November.
