Canal closed after body discovered in water
24/10/2023
The Oxford canal on the northern side of town is closed to boats and towpath users
A section of the Oxford canal in Banbury has been closed so the police can recover a body from the water. The closure and reason has been reported by the Canal and River Trust.
The canal has been closed since 4pm today.
The closure is in place for a stretch of the waterway alongside the Southam Road, from a point north of Hennef Way as far as the southern side of the industrial units on Noral Way, by the Grimsbury Woodland Nature Reserve.
The canal is closed to both boats and those using the towpath.
No details are currently available as to how long the canal will remain closed.
