Cancellations for both bus and train users
21/06/2022
Industrial action on the rail network and service issues on the buses are affecting travel
Bus and train users in our area are struggling to get to their destinations today. Industrial action on the trains and service issues on the buses have drastically reduced travel options.
The largest strike by rail workers for a generation has resulted in many services being cancelled with the usually busy Banbury train station deserted early this morning.
Chiltern Railways has no trains running between Banbury and Birmingham and one train an hour in each direction between Banbury and London. Cross country services running between Banbury and Southampton and Banbury and Manchester Piccadilly will only run on a reduced timetable between 9 and 4.
Meanwhile Stagecoach have announced the cancellation of a number of services on both their B9 and B5 routes:
- B9 Hardwick to Banbury at 8.28am
- B9 Banbury to Hardwick at 9.45am and 11.45am
- B9 Hardwick to Gateway at 9.58 and 11.58am
- B9 Gateway to Hardwick at 10.45 and 12.45pm
- B9 Hardwick to Bridge Street and 11.13am and 1.13pm
- B5 Banbury to Bretch Hill at 4.45pm, 5.30pm and 6.20pm
