Car and lorry in 5am M40 crash

Individual taken to hospital after early morning motorway incident

Emergency services were called to an accident on the M40 just to the north of Banbury early this morning.   The collision involved a car driving into the back of a lorry at around 5am.

Police suspect the accident is one of a number that may have been as a result of the driver being over the legal alcohol limit.   The individual was taken to hospital.   Their condition is not currently known.

Officers from the Thames Valley Roads Policing Unit said: “Over the last 3 night shifts we have dealt with 5 drink drivers, 3 of which as a result of collisions.

“We are currently at Hospital getting blood from the driver of the latest collision on the M40 at 0500 this morning.”
