The government have allocated £106,311 to Katharine House
Banbury’s MP, Sean Woodcock, has welcomed a major funding boost for Katharine House Hospice, as part of a £75 million government package to improve end-of-life care facilities across England.
The hospice will receive £106,311 to upgrade facilities.
Across the country more than 170 hospices will benefit from the funding, aimed at enhancing comfort and dignity for patients. Improvements could include new family rooms, communal lounges, adapted beds, and updated digital systems to help coordinate care.
Mr Woodcock said: “I’m so pleased that this Labour Government has allocated such important funding to our hospices.
“Katharine House Hospice provide such invaluable support in our community for people with life-limiting conditions and their loved ones and this government funding will make such a real difference.”
Minister for Care, Stephen Kinnock, said the investment reflects the government’s wider commitment to community-based care: “Hospices play a vital role in our society by providing invaluable care and support when people need it most.
“At this most difficult time, people deserve to receive the best care in the best possible environment with dignity.
“I have seen first-hand how our funding is already making a real difference to improving facilities for patients and families. This additional funding will deliver further upgrades, relieving pressure on day-to-day spending.”
The new funding, for 2025/26, will be distributed by Hospice UK, with hospices reimbursed once improvement works are complete.
