Changes for bus users on 500 route

Move should help improve punctuality and add extra early morning and late evening journeys

Users of Stagecoach’s Banbury to Brackley 500 service will see some changes to their bus times and routes from August 29.   Stagecoach says the move should help improve punctuality and add extra early morning and late evening journeys.

Under the new timetable the first service heading to Banbury will leave Brackley at the earlier time of 5:41am – it currently sets off at 6:25am.   The first Brackley bound service from Banbury will be at 6:00am.

As part of the redesign of the route, the 500 service will no longer call at Gateway Retail Park.   The two evening stops at the Horton General Hospital have also been removed.

The revised route will see the 500 leaving Banbury bus station, heading directly to Middleton Cheney (Co-Op stop) and Farthinghoe, before arriving in Brackley Market Place and then concluding in Brackley’s Radstone Fields.

The hourly stops in Chacombe will continue starting from 7.12am.

To compensate for the loss of the Gateway stops from the 500’s route Stagecoach are adding additional calls at the retail park to the B9 service, with the earliest bus now arriving from Banbury town centre at 06:40am.

In a statement Stagecoach said: “We know how important it is to have a service that you can rely on, so we have also made changes to the timetable to improve punctuality.

“Journeys via Banbury Gateway will be replaced by more trips on service B9, and you will need to connect onto the S4 in Banbury Bus Station to travel to Horton Hospital.”

Is there no pick up or drop off at the Chacombe Road stops. And will Chacombe no longer be on the bus route?

That sounds great to have earlier and later buses. But it also state that it will be going straight to Middleton so does that mean they are trying to drop Chacombe?

Thanks for all the comments. We are happy to confirm the hourly stops in Chacombe will continue starting from 7.12am. We hadn’t initially included this as we focused on the new early route but have now updated the article with the confirmation Chacombe is still included.
