Chiltern suggests only using the train if essential over Easter
06/04/2023
Engineering works and the closure of the Nuneham viaduct set to cause problems
Chiltern Railways has urged train users to only travel if essential over the Easter weekend.
Engineering works will result in part of the line between Birmingham New Street and London Euston being closed. This leaves the line through Banbury, between Birmingham and London Marylebone, as the only option for many people. Chiltern will be running extra services with more carriages, but expect them to be very busy.
A knock-on effect is that rail replacement buses will be in operation for journeys to and from Kings Sutton.
Elsewhere urgent safety assessments of the Nuneham viaduct between Didcot Parkway and Oxford have left in the main line to the south closed. Buses are running between Oxford and Didcot Parkway.
The usual £10 administrative fee for ticket cancellation or advance ticket changes has been waived if customers wish to rearrange their travel plans in the circumstances.
