The challenges provide vital income for the Adderbury based hospice

Daredevils, explorers and those who fancy a physical mission in 2026, are being sought for a series of fund-raising challenges for Katharine House.

The Hospice is offering a new adventure this year – a trek along the Great Wall of China.   Exclusively for Katharine House supporters, the trek, in October, will take in a remote section of the wall from Gubeikou to Jinshanling and Simatai, exploring not only the wall itself but also the surrounding wild and remote landscapes.

Popular challenges from previous years return this year, including a 13,000ft skydive at Hinton Airfield, scaling Snowdon at sunrise and places to run in the Oxford Half Marathon.

The Katharine House team are also inviting people to take part in the Banbury Triathlon in May and the hugely successful London to Paris cycle challenge is scheduled for September.

Each of the events will be used to generate much needed income for the hospice.   Last year the team of 46 cyclists on the London to Paris cycle challenge raised a huge £166,085.

Carley Lambourne is the Events and Challenges Officer at Katharine House.   She will be accompanying those signing up for the trek in China.   Carley said: “This will be an opportunity of a lifetime and I’m so excited to be joining the team for the Great Wall of China Trek.   We still have places available for those who want to sign up to this amazing adventure.

“Our team will be with you every step of the way, supporting you with your fundraising and sharing ideas to help you reach your target easily, plus we’ll be organising training walks for the group so you can get to know other people before we go.”

Community Engagement Manager, Roseann Thompson, added: “We’re pleased to be able to offer a variety of fundraising challenges and events this year and hope there’s something for everyone.

“By taking part in one of our events or challenges, people can have fun whilst also helping to ensure we can continue to provide free, specialist palliative care to adults in our local community.   We’re so grateful to everyone who takes part, donates or cheers on our participants.”

Details for all the events and challenges can be viewed here.
