Christmas Pedal for children wanting their own Tractor Run experience
04/12/2024
The idea has been dreamt up by Jennie Steenkamp who organises the annual RC Baker event
The RC Baker Christmas Tractor Run returns to Banbury a week on Saturday. Ahead of that the event’s organiser has arranged a special event – a Christmas Pedal – so children can get their own Tractor Run experience this Saturday.
Jennie Steenkamp has masterminded the Tractor Run since 2016 and raised over £140,000 for the Katharine House Hospice since then.
Jennie and her friends are taking part in the Cycle London to Paris fundraiser next September to raise even more cash for the hospice. They have an initial target of £7,000 to take part.
Knowing how much children enjoy the Tractor Run Jennie has arranged the Christmas Pedal, with funds raised going towards the £7,000 target.
Jennie said: “The children love seeing the tractors in all their glory, covered in tinsel and fairy lights. We’ve had a few children get involved themselves by decorating their pedal tractors so we thought we’ll put on a special event on that basis.
“We’re inviting children to decorate their bicycles at home and then bring them to the farm. We’ll create an illuminated circuit for them to pedal around so they can feel like the farmers, but on slightly smaller scale.
“It should be lots of fun! We’ll have lots of lights around at the farm so they can go around a short circuit to show off their dazzling creations.”
The Christmas Pedal will take place at Spring Hill Farm in Barford-St-Michael. Plenty of refreshments will be available, but its important parents reserve a place for their child in advance.
