Blue and green bins will be collected as normal, but there won’t be a garden waste service
Users of Cherwell District Council’s garden waste collection service are being warned their brown bins won’t be collected for two weeks over Christmas. The Council says that this will allow the waste and recycling crews to collect the increased amounts of waste and recycling in green and blue bins generated over the festive period.
During the Christmas and New Year period the weight of waste and recycling goes up by around 50 per cent. Therefore, garden waste collections will be paused from Tuesday December 27 until Friday January 6.
No changes are planned to the collections of blue and green bins and silver food waste caddies over Christmas. These will take place on the usual day, including the collection on Bank Holiday Christmas Tuesday. People should make sure their bins are out by 7am.
Anyone with recycling that won’t fit in their blue bin can leave it in a box next to the bin on collection day and it will be taken.
