At its peak delays of 90 minutes were anticipated

Drivers on the southbound M40 faced delays on Tuesday morning after a collision left two of the motorway’s three lanes closed.

The crash happened at around 7.30am between the Cherwell Valley Services at Junction 10 and Junction 9 for Bicester.

At its peak the tail end of the queues to pass the incident reached a couple of miles south of Banbury.  Drivers were told to expect delays of up to 90 minutes.

The Highways Agency managed to open one of the blocked lanes by 9.40am.   Lane three was reopened around 10.30am when recovery had taken place.
