Muezza was seen on CCTV being taken during Bank Holiday Monday evening
The Community Fridge’s cat has been safely returned after being taken from Banbury’s Madni Mosque on Bank Holiday Monday evening. Last night the cat was reported as having been stolen from the project’s base on Merton Street in Grimsbury.
The cat, affectionately named Muezza, went missing at 8.10pm. Organisers of the Community Fridge said they had CCTV footage of three individuals calling the cat to them before taking it away in a blanket.
They issued a plea for whoever took the cat to return him safely.
Shortly after 10am this morning (Tuesday) a spokesperson for the Community Fridge said that Muezza had been returned.
They said: “We are thankful to each and everyone of you who has supported us in a kitten hunt overnight. He is being spoilt ..and [getting] a few lessons not to go with strangers.”
Muezza arrived at the Community Fridge at the start of August. Initially he was kept inside whilst awaiting his second vaccination. Recently he has been allowed out to patrol the car park area of the mosque, where the Community Fridge is housed.
The Community Fridge wishes to remind people that children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult when visiting their premises.
