Banbury Young Homelessness Project, Harmless and Young Minds will benefit from the annual fund-raiser

Community spirited sixth form students at Chenderit School in Middleton Cheney have organised a number of events as part of their Charities Week to benefit a number of good causes.

Proceeds from the annual end-of-year event will this year benefit the Banbury Young Homelessness Project, Harmless and Young Minds.

So far, a student organised Christmas Market, the selling of candy canes and the annual “Chenderit’s Got Talent” show have already taken place.

Staff have joined in, working with the sixth form students in events such as lip sync battles and a teachers versus students basketball game.

A food bank drive aims to support local families across the area in both Banbury and Brackley.

The fund-raising events have all been received with enthusiasm by students across the entire school community.

Headteacher Jane Cartwright said: “Our students are compassionate individuals who voluntarily go above and beyond to support not only one another, but also the wider community, and that is why Charities Week is always so enjoyable.

“We are proud of each of the students who have organised and participated in events throughout the week, and we look forward to supporting the three charities in their important work to support not only our young people, but others in need, too.”
