12/09/2022
Town Mayor Paul Wiltshire read the proclamation
Several hundred people gathered in Brackley town centre on Sunday afternoon to witness the proclamation of the new King, Charles III. Town Mayor Paul Wiltshire read the message to those crowding around the Piazza outside Brackley Town Hall.
The historic moment was witnessed by the old and young alike and included a contingent of members from the Scout and Guide associations.
The local reading followed first official reading of the proclamation at St James’ Palace in London on Saturday.
Following the proclamation those present had their first chance to sing the new words to the national anthem. This was followed by a rousing show of support with three cheers for the new Monarch.
