Defibrillator at the Sunshine Centre to benefit local community
26/10/2023
The life-saving kit has been arranged by local Labour councillors
A life-saving defibrillator is being installed at Banbury’s Sunshine Centre after members of the public told local councillors the equipment was needed.
The device, which can be used to shock a person’s heart back into action after a cardiac arrest, is being sighted outside the centre on Edmunds Road, so its available to the local community.
The defibrillator was organised by local Labour councillors, Mark Cherry, Amanda Watkins, Isabel Creed and Rebecca Beagle.
Cherwell District Council owns the building and have funded the equipment.
Councillor Mark Cherry felt the installation came at an ideal time as a key member of the Sunshine Centre team is about to leave. He said: “Jill Edge, the Sunshine Centre manager, is due to retire in December 2023 after 25 years’ service.
“As a Ruscote Labour team we want to wish her well and thank her for her work in the community and at the Sunshine Centre.”
