A developer has announced its intention to apply to build up to 130 homes on the western side of the Southam Road in Banbury.

Hargreaves Residential Developments wants to build in the remaining fields between the crematorium and the development currently being built to the north of Dukes Meadow Drive.

The company has submitted a Screening Opinion application to Cherwell District Council.   This allows the council to advise whether an Environmental Impact Assessment would be required with a planning application.

The site is approximately 11.5 hectares of farmland.

In their request to the council the company says: “It is anticipated that an outline planning application with all matters reserved except access will be submitted proposing the development of around 130 dwellings and new public open space and other associated infrastructure.

“Vehicular, cycle and pedestrian access will be taken from a new junction onto the A423, with a footpath and cycle connection link to the south.”
