Two of the Under 18s coaches will manage the new team

Banbury United will have a Development Team from next season.   They will be participating in the Hellenic League Division Two.

The club says the introduction of a Development Team reinforces their commitment to nurturing homegrown talent from the town and surrounding areas.   It will be managed by the current Under 18s coaches, Carl Ashford and Ben Hayes.

First team manager Simon Hollyhead endorsed the new team.   He said: “This is a really exciting development for the club, one that we have been keen to integrate over the last few months.   It’s a great opportunity for ambitious players who are really serious about being in and around the first team setup as it strengthens the pathway and allows for a natural progression from Under 18s to the Development Team and ultimately to the first team.”

The Under 18s team will be unaffected by the move and will continue to play in the Midland Junior Premier League.

Applications for trials for both teams are now open.
