Dive into your amazing brain at Banbury Museum and Gallery
08/02/2022
New exhibition takes you on a journey inside your brain to find out just what makes you, you!
Have you ever thought about how amazing your brain is? A new exhibition at Banbury Museum and Gallery plans to show you just that, highlighting how your brain interprets the senses of what we see, hear, smell and feel and how it controls our emotions.
“Your Amazing Brain” will take you on a journey inside your brain, to find out just what makes you, you!
With over 15 interactive puzzles and mind-bending illusions it will show you how your brain can play tricks on you and might leave you questioning what you thought you knew.
The family friendly exhibition includes hands-on activities that all the family can take part in.
Banbury Museum and Gallery say that you might not think science is for you, but they aim to prove it is for everyone.
Your Amazing Brain has been funded by the Wellcome Trust and designed for Banbury Museum and Gallery in collaboration with the Wellcome Centre for Integrative Neuroimaging at the University of Oxford.
Prof Heidi Johansen-Berg, Director of the Wellcome Centre for Integrative Neuroimaging said: “Our researchers have loved collaborating with Banbury Museum & Gallery to put together the exhibition and we are excited to hear what museum visitors think about it. We always appreciate opportunities to view our research from fresh perspectives.”
The exhibition opens this Saturday (February 12) with tickets priced at £5.00 for adults, £2.50 for children and Art Fund members and £3.00 for concessions.
Alongside the exhibition, the ‘Big Brain Roadshow’ will be taking researchers to secondary schools in the area to host assemblies for Year 9 students. The Mill Arts Centre will also host a session for older 6th form students studying science, with opportunities for career guidance as well as a visit to the Amazing Brain exhibition.
