A man has been arrested after a woman in her forties was thrown to the ground and assaulted in Banbury’s Butcher’s Row in the early hours of last Sunday morning.
The woman was pinned to the floor, shouted at and had her hair grabbed.
She sustained bruising to her arms and a lump on her head during the incident, which happened at half past midnight. The victim did not receive medical treatment.
Thames Valley Police is appealing for any witnesses to the assault occasioning Actual Bodily Harm.
A 41-year-old man from Banbury has been arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, false imprisonment and theft. He remains in police custody.
Investigating officer PC Hannah Stringfellow, based at Banbury police station, said: “This assault happened in the evening just off the High Street in Banbury.
“I am confident that someone will have witnessed what happened so I am appealing to anybody who saw or heard this to get in touch with police.
“Anyone with information should call us on 101 or make a report online, quoting reference number 43220166535.
