Eats and drinks a-plenty at Sunday Food and Drink Festival
21/08/2023
The event offered alfresco dining or treats to take home
Shoppers at Banbury’s Food and Drink Festival on Sunday had lots on their plates after visiting around a hundred stalls stacked high with delicious delicacies.
Market Place overflowed with eats and drink with tastes and flavours from around the world – and cookery demonstrations by one of Britain’s top celebrity chefs was a popular feature of the event.
The free-to-attend food fair, organised by Banbury Town Council, was the perfect place for families to enjoy eat-as-you-go Sunday lunches.
Tables and chairs were provided for those who chose to dine alfresco, while other shoppers took their purchases home to eat later.
Chef Paul Da Costa Greaves attracted big crowds to his three demonstrations and gave fans new ideas for fabulous meals. His easy-to-watch style was entertaining and informative.
All-day music by local performers provided background entertainment – and allowed people to listen, relax and enjoy their food and drinks.
Mayor Fiaz Ahmed said: “The food fair is one of Banbury’s most popular events and attracts many thousands of people.
“It celebrates everything good about food and drink.”
Cllr Ahmed added: “There is a saying that nothing brings people together more than good food – and we saw the truth of that at the food fair.”
