Extra planning meetings needed to cope with volume of applications
21/03/2025

Decisions must be made within timescales set by law
Cherwell District Council’s Planning Committee are going to have to hold extra meetings during the next couple of months to keep up with the number of planning applications they have to deal with. After last night’s meeting the next scheduled meeting had been in June.
The committee generally only deals with larger applications with smaller decisions delegated to the Council’s planning officers.
Committee Chair Councillor Barry Wood told members two extra meetings were being arranged in the next couple of months so that decisions could be made before the statutory deadlines passed.
The additional meetings will be held on April 10 and May 15. Both of these will be in the Council’s new offices at Castle Quay.
