Banbury and District Chamber of Commerce took part in the Hospice’s Accumulator Challenge
Local business leaders and their families came together on Friday night for a Banbury and District Chamber of Commerce fundraising event for the Katharine House Hospice.
£1,711 was raised during the Chamber’s final Accumulator Challenge event – “A Night At The Bingo”.
The Accumulator Challenge, sponsored by the Chamber, saw businesses, schools, community groups and individuals take a small seed-fund investment and over four months use it to generate as much money as they could.
Over 100 people attended Friday’s event at Lock29, with every opportunity taken to maximise the amount raised. Bingo books, raffle tickets and dabbers were sponsored by Wellers Accountants and local businesses donated prizes, including an Alex Monroe bumble bee bracelet, donated by Michael Jones Jewellers and Afternoon Tea with Bubbles for four at the Whately Hall Hotel.
Derek Hettenbach, trustee of The Banbury Chamber, said: “I would like to thank Stuart McGregor, his amazing team and Lock 29 for facilitating the event, and thank the food vendors and the bar who volunteered to extend their hours to provide such a variety of food and drink options to the full event.
“It was particularly nice to see how the event was embraced by the families who were able to attend together and enjoy some fun family time on a Friday night, too!
“This made it a real community event to raise much-needed funds for [Katharine House Hospice], which is such an important charity and one that we rely on in the area to look after our loved ones in time of need”
Stuart McGregor, General Manager for Lock29, said, “We were delighted to be able to host the Chamber of Commerce Bingo night to raise funds for Katherine House.
“Lock29 is a place that we want the community to feel at home and to be proud of, be it giving opportunities to new businesses or assisting with local events. We had a fantastic time hosting, and it was an amazing evening for a great cause.”
In total the Banbury and District Chamber of Commerce team have raised £2,289 for Katharine House during their challenge period. As well as the bingo, a raffle was held at November’s Chamber Live event and further money was raised during a Christmas tour around local pubs.
