Last week’s concert was filmed and will be streamed to coincide with what would have been festival finale night

Fairport fans who are missing the build up to the annual Cropredy reunion have been given something to look forward to this Saturday.   The band will be streaming the concert that they staged in Cropredy last week.

This year’s festival was cancelled in June when the uncertainty of what pandemic rules would apply remained unclear.   At the time festival director Gareth Williams said the risks of continuing to try to organise the popular event in the face of not knowing what would happen were too great and risked the future of the festival.

Last Thursday Fairport Convention performed in the garden of The Brasenose Arms in Cropredy.   The concert was filmed and this Saturday evening the band will broadcast the show on their YouTube channel.   It will air from 8pm – the time Fairport normally take to the stage for the festival finale.

The 2 hour show will be free to watch but, for those that can afford it, there will be the option to donate money to Fairport Convention’s members.

A spokesperson for the band said: “It has been 16 months since Fairport saw a proper pay day and this pandemic has been a lean time for them. The TipJar is open now for those wishing to donate. All money raised will go to the band themselves.”

Fairport’s YouTube channel can be found here.
