A car driver was taken to hospital after a farm trailer loaded with straw bales tipped onto its side, shedding its load onto the driver’s vehicle yesterday afternoon (Thursday). The accident left the A4260 at Adderbury closed for several hours.
It was shortly before 5pm that the farm vehicle was on the southbound Oxford Road between the traffic lights at the junction with the Aynho Road and the village green. The trailer tipped onto its side, throwing its load of straw bales over the opposite carriageway.
The driver of an Audi A5 cabriolet was on the northbound carriageway.
A number of people in the area at the time immediately offered help.
South Central Ambulance Service say that three ambulance crews were sent to the scene to deal with one patient. Following assessment and treatment at the scene the patient was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.
The clean up operation took a number of hours, with the straw bales all being lifted out of the way before the car could be moved.
