Fire and fault at pylon cuts power to 170 properties

The problem happened at equipment on the Vantage Business Park off the A361
An equipment fault and fire at the foot of an electric pylon resulted in a power cut for 170 properties between Banbury and Bloxham this lunchtime. The problem was first reported at 12.08pm.
It occurred at a pylon on the A361 at the Vantage Business Park.
Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue sent fire appliances from Chipping Norton Fire Station to the scene, with engineers from Western Power Distribution also attending.
An area of burning grass around the pylon was extinguished with fire crews leaving the scene at 1.15pm.
Supplies to 161 of the affected properties were restored at 1.28pm. A fix for the remaining 9 properties is expected by 7pm.
