Crews dealt with a fire on the 7th floor

Fire crews have been dealing with a fire at the John Radcliffe Hospital Maternity Unit in Oxford.

They were called at 2.11pm to what is described as a small office fire on the 7th floor.

The fire is now extinguished but crews remain on scene, ventilating the building

Seven fire crews were sent to the scene, along with a hydraulic platform.   The number of crews involved was because the incident was in a high-rise building.

Oxford University Hospitals Trust say that no harm has been reported. The impacted area has been cleared and cordoned off. Services in the non-affected areas are operating as usual.

Since the Horton Maternity Unit was downgraded to a midwife led service many Banbury mothers use the services of the John Radcliffe Maternity Unit.
