First choice primary school achieved for 9 out of 10 Oxfordshire youngsters
19/04/2022
Places to start education this September were requested for 7,060 children
Just over nine out of ten youngsters starting primary education in Oxfordshire this September will be heading to their parent’s first choice school.
91.49% of youngsters (6,459) were awarded their number one selection of infant or primary school learning in the county. That figure is slightly lower than the 93.09% achieved last year.
This year school places were requested for 7,060 Oxfordshire children – 175 more than last year.
Just 103 of those requests could not be accommodated within one of the four choices requested on the application form.
Hayley Good, Oxfordshire County Council’s Deputy Director of Children Services, said: “Our school admissions team has done an excellent job in ensuring that so many parents and children have been offered their first choice.
“I am grateful to the team for all its hard work. Our aim as a council is to give every child a good start in life and our school admissions team play an essential part in that year in, year out.”
