The authority relocated from Bodicote House at the end of March

The first meeting has been held in Cherwell District Council’s new Council Chamber at Castle Quay.

The authority officially moved into its offices above Lock 29 in the shopping centre last week, vacating Bodicote House, where it had been based since the council’s inception in 1974.

The Executive Committee, which controls the business of the council, were the first to hold a meeting in the new Council Chamber

Council Leader David Hingley marked the moment at the start of the meeting.   He said: “I’m very pleased, personally, that we are here in Banbury playing our part in driving the regeneration of the town.   I’m particularly pleased that our new officers have achieved an ‘A’ rating for energy efficiency.

“I’d also like to recognise the work that has been done by the officers in getting us to this point.”
