Flood alerts for Cherwell and Great Ouse following Thursday’s rain

19/12/2025

River levels are set to remain high for a few days

Flood alerts are in place for two of our local rivers following yesterday’s rain.

There’s a warning that both the River Cherwell (from Charwelton to just above Upper Heyford) and the River Great Ouse (from Brackley to Thornborough) could be affected.

People are asked to avoid low lying roads, footpaths and bridges near the rivers which may be flooded.

Whilst the situation for the River Great Ouse isn’t expected to get worse, the level on the River Cherwell is likely to stay high for the next few days and some further rain is expected during this period.
