Flower Tower reinstalled for Coronation
03/05/2023
The display includes over 4,300 hand knitted and crocheted flowers
To mark the Coronation a stunning craft project has been reinstalled at a local church. The Flower Tower at All Saints Church in Middleton Cheney was originally created to mark Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee.
Last weekend the cascading display of over 4,300 hand knitted and crocheted flowers was put back in pride of place in readiness for King Charles III’s Coronation on Saturday.
Last year the display received coverage around the world. Ahead of being draped from the church tower the Flower Tower underwent essential repairs so it looks its best for the big day.
The project was initiated in 2021 by villager Joanne Watts, who had been inspired by pictures of similar work elsewhere. Around 50 people were involved in the artwork, including members of the Women’s Institute, the Church and a number of individuals.
The Flower Tower will only be in place for a short time, so those wishing to take a look are advised to visit soon.
