From Deddington to England’s rugby squad for ex-Bloxham School pupil

A former Banbury Rugby Club player has been called up to England’s Six Nations Rugby Squad.

Alfie Barbeary grew up in Deddington and starting rugby practice with Banbury at the age of 8.   He went on to win several Oxfordshire cups at youth level.

The 21-year-old former Bloxham School pupil has previously captained the England under-18 team.

As a Wasps Under 18s graduate, Barbeary joined Wasps’ Senior Academy squad for the 2019/20 season and moved into the senior squad in July 2020.
