If and when Banbury’s United’s latest signing steps out for the first team he will become the third generation from his family to play for the Puritans.
Sixteen-year-old Freddie Milner has joined the club after finishing with Oxford United’s Academy.
Freddie’s father Ben Milner made 95 appearances for Banbury United during three spells with the club between 2001 and 2010. His grandfather Steve Slaughter was a Puritans striker, making his debut in 1976.
As a youth player, Freddie previously played with Easington Sports and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Freddie is the latest signing for first team manager Kevin Wilson, who made a commitment to developing local talent when he joined the club in January. He said: “I’m keen that Banbury United improves the pathway to professional football for local youngsters. Banbury served me well as a teenager and I would like to give something back to the promising talent of the town.”
