Funding will help encourage people back to Brackley High Street

Floral display and flags are amongst the plans to give local people a boost
Brackley Town Council has secured £32,790 of funding to encourage people back into the town centre. The cash will be used to create a colourful and patriotic environment in the High Street for the Jubilee celebrations and the weeks that follow.
The money comes from the European Regional Development Fund’s Welcome Back Fund, which is delivered by West Northamptonshire Council. The £56 million fund aims to drive footfall back into town centres and celebrate the high street.
Brackley Town Council have prioritised their High Street as the primary area to focus on with some of the funding being put towards hanging baskets and flags on buildings. More floral displays will come from 78 planters attached to lamp posts and a new planting scheme at the bottom of the road.
In a statement on the funding Brackley Town Council said: “With the upcoming bank holiday weekend next week, the Welcome Back Fund hopes to give residents of Brackley a boost and incentive to visit the town centre amongst the Platinum Jubilee events.”
Last week the council secured £9,972 from the National Lottery Community Fund towards the town’s Platinum Jubilee Festival and beacon lighting event at Brackley Rugby Club.
