09/04/2026

The condition affects around 166,000 people in the UK
Saturday is World Parkinson’s Day and a coffee morning is being held in Banbury to raise awareness locally.
The Banbury Parkinson’s Group will host their drop-in event for a couple of hours from 10.30am at the RVS Cornhill Centre on Castle Street, offering visitors the chance to learn more about support available locally, whilst enjoying refreshments.
World Parkinson’s Day aims to break stigma, encourage support for caregivers, and highlight the need for funding and research into Parkinson’s, a condition which affects around 166,000 people in the UK.
Similar events will be taking place across the country.
Don Rogers, Chair of Banbury Parkinson’s Group, said: “As someone living with Parkinson’s, seeing the community come together like this is incredibly moving. World Parkinson’s Day is about shining a light on the challenges we face and the support that’s available. By hosting this event on Saturday, we’re showing that no one is alone with Parkinson’s.”
Caroline Rassell, Chief Executive at Parkinson’s UK, added: “We are delighted that Banbury Parkinsons Group are showing their support for World Parkinson’s Day by holding this drop in Coffee Morning and helping to spread awareness of Parkinson’s.
“However you mark World Parkinson’s Day this April, you’re part of an incredible community – raising awareness, funding vital research, and making sure people know about support available to them both locally and centrally through the charity.”
