A circus themed lantern parade, concert and Christmas Market feature during the weekend

A two day winter festival returns to the village of Hanwell this weekend.   HanFESTIVE will see villagers, local artisans and performers taking part in three events on Saturday and Sunday.

Events begin with the annual Hanwell lantern parade through the village on Saturday evening starting at 5.45pm.   A walking band will lead a traditional circus themed parade with bells the from the village’s 13th Century ironstone church ringing out.

At 6.30pm the church will play host to a magical circus experience, a spectacular evening of live foot-stomping folk music and dance.  Guests are being encouraged to attend dressed in traditional circus inspired costumes.

Performers include the Seth Bye Trio with a range of music from high energy fiddle tunes to pensive ballads, Simon Poliushkin with powerful Irish dance and Italian songwriter and composer Paolo Coruzzi.

Then on Sunday the HanFESTIVE Christmas Market will fill St Peters Church with stalls, featuring the best local artisan craftspeople and producers, featuring everything from handmade gifts to locally-brewed beer and delicious hot food.

HanFESTIVE’s organiser Chris Brant said: “The village has really come together to support this year’s festivities, and cannot wait to welcome visitors. For anyone who’s not been to HanFESTIVE before, we have an amazing creative bunch of folk, who create a magical experience that is truly unique to Hanwell.”

Tickets for the concert cost £12 for adults and £6 for children which includes free entry to the Christmas Market.   Entry to just the Christmas Market costs £4 for adults and children under 16 are free.   Free parking will be available close to the church on a nearby field.
