Heavy rescue gear used during first of two M40 collisions
02/10/2021
The driver and passenger were able to walk out the vehicle after being freed by the fire service
The emergency services have dealt with two crashes on the M40 overnight. Both incidents happened in the same area on the northbound carriageway between junctions 10 and 11.
The first collision happened just after midnight.
Firefighters from Bicester, Banbury and Kidlington, along with Thames Valley Police and South Central Ambulance Service attended the scene. Pictures show a car having come to rest against the central reservation barrier.
To assist the passenger in the rear the fire service used heavy rescue gear to remove the car’s rear door and force the front door open.
The driver and passenger were both able to walk out the vehicle after a medical assessment.
