“this is massively outside our comfort zones but we’re determined to motivate each other”

Two members of the Katharine House Hospice team who have cheered on, encouraged and promoted fundraising runners over the years will this year follow the old adage of “putting your money where your mouth is”!

Hannah Timms and Carley Lambourne from the Hospice’s fundraising team have signed up for this year’s Oxford Half Marathon.

Each year the marathon makes thousands of pounds for the Hospice.   Normally Hannah and Carley work with the runners who are representing Katharine House, but for this year’s event on October 14 they will join, them aiming to add even more to the fund-raising pot.

The Oxford Half Marathon is considered by many to be THE half marathon and sees participants make their way around a scenic 13.1 mile route through the University Parks and historic Oxford City Centre.

Hannah said: “We’re not runners and this is massively outside our comfort zones, but we’re determined to motivate each other and are looking forward to being the ones being cheered on this year.”

Carley added: “We are practising what we preach and putting our money (well, sponsorship) where our mouths are. Last year I got all excited watching our supporters cross the finish line and said I would do it this year, so here we are.

“We are no athletes, but we’re determined to carry each other through to make it to the finish line and raise as much as we can for our special hospice”

Anyone wishing to join Carley and Hannah can still do so as a few places remain running for Katharine House.   More details are available here.
