Hospital Blue Badge holders need not worry following Monday’s ANPR problems

The hospital trust has confirmed the system is now fully functioning

Blue Badge holders who were unable to scan their badges in the Horton General Hospital’s car park earlier this week won’t face a fine.

Monday was the first day new automatic number plate recognition cameras were operating, with car park users required to pay at the end of their stay.

Blue Badge holders simply needed to scan their badges, but the system failed to register them, leaving a number of people concerned that they may face a fine.

The Horton General Hospital site is operated by Oxford University Hospitals Trust.   They have confirmed to Banbury FM the system is now operating properly and Blue Badge holders who were unable to use the system on Monday need not worry.

A Trust spokesperson said: “Anyone who couldn’t scan their blue badge on Monday 5 January will not receive a fine – we have tested our systems and they are now fully functioning. We’re sorry for any confusion caused.

“We recommend that they scan their badge the next time they visit to ensure they are registered. Registration is for six months, and can be renewed by re-scanning the blue badge.”
