Hospital letters available online from today
04/08/2021
Patients will be notified by text when a letter arrives, but posted copies will be sent if the letter isn’t viewed online
Hospital letters are now available to be viewed online. Across the Oxfordshire University Hospitals Trust sites, including the Horton General Hospital, a digital letter with text notification service has been introduced from today.
The system works by sending a text message including a link which will allow the recipient to view and download their appointment letters on their mobile phone, tablet or computer.
Anyone who has a mobile phone number registered with the Trust will find that the new text message notification will be the most common method for receiving online outpatient appointment letters and online self-assessment forms.
The Trust says patients who prefer paper letters can still receive them and letters will automatically be sent if the system notices that a person hasn’t viewed their letter online, or where the Trust doesn’t have a person’s mobile phone number.
The steps to viewing online appointment letters are:
- Click the link in the text message that is sent to you.
- This will take you to a secure site with a ‘View letter’ option and a request to log in using your last name, date of birth and post code.
Letters will be available to view and download and will be stored for future reference. The system also includes an option to request a paper copy of a letter is posted.
