Hotel Chocolat in Banbury to be a destination outlet?
10/11/2023
The company is focusing on drive-to locations offering Velvetiser cafes and their range of chocolates
Plans for a popular chocolatier to open a shop in Banbury have taken a step closer.
In October we told you that Hotel Chocolat was advertising positions as Sales Advisors for a new store, which the advert said would open before the end of the year.
Signs have now appeared outside the old Frankie and Benny’s building at Stroud Park, off Ermont Way.
A spokesperson for Hotel Chocolat told Banbury FM they weren’t able to give any further details currently.
A clue as to what the Banbury Hotel Chocolat outlet could include might have been in a statement in January this year. Then it was announced that the company would increasingly be focusing on destination retail parks.
CEO and co-founder Angus Thirlwell told The Grocer magazine: “[We want locations] where people are prepared to drive to find us, and in many cases park and then spend an hour or so having a nice experience in one of our ‘Velvetiser’ cafés, and then browse the range we’ve got.”
Stroud Park is close to the M40 at junction 11 and near to the out-of-town Banbury Gateway retail park.
