Image of man police want to speak to after Middleton Cheney handbag theft
10/08/2022
Woman in 70s had been followed home from a Banbury bank
An image has been released of a man police would like to speak to as they continue to investigate the theft of a handbag from a woman in her 70s in Middleton Cheney.
The woman had just withdrawn cash from a bank in Banbury and the thieves then followed her home. Her handbag was snatched from her lap as she drove onto her driveway in Stanwell Drive.
Northamptonshire Police believe the man in the picture may have information that could help them with their enquiries.
As we reported in July, the theft took place between 2pm and 2.45pm on Thursday, July 21.
The lady was unaware that she was being followed after she had visited the bank. As she pulled up onto the drive at her home the offenders opened her car door and snatched her bag from her lap.
They were driving a dark coloured Vauxhall Astra vehicle which had cloned registration plates. It travelled back to the West Mercia region following the theft.
Anyone with information is asked to call Northamptonshire Police on 101 or alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
