Junior doctors take industrial action
13/03/2023
Some appointments have been rescheduled but urgent and emergency care is still operational
Three days of industrial action by junior doctors has begun at the Horton General Hospital – and other hospitals across the country – as members of the British Medical Association walk out over pay and conditions.
The Oxford University Hospitals Trust, which runs the Horton General, says they will continue to provide urgent and emergency care. However, they have had to reschedule some appointments and planned inpatient and daycase procedures to ensure patient safety.
Anyone who hasn’t heard from the Trust by the day of their appointment should attend as planned.
The walk out by junior doctors will finish at 7am on Thursday.
Sara Randall, Chief Operating Officer at OUH, said: “We have plans in place to deal with changes to our services in the event of industrial action. As always, our priority is to continue to provide safe care for our patients, and anyone with a rescheduled appointment will be rebooked in for the soonest time possible.”
