10/11/2021
Kenny Gracey will complete today’s leg of his challenge at the War Memorial in People’s Park
A man who is on a mission to walk 212 miles from County Down in Northern Ireland to the Cenotaph at Whitehall, will arrive in Banbury today. Kenny Gracey set off on Sunday with the aim of visiting six Cenotaphs on his route to London.
Mr Gracey is raising money for the Northern Ireland Air Ambulance and Royal British Legion.
Last night he arrived in Birmingham ahead of walking to Banbury today, via Knowle and Warwick. On arriving in Birmingham last night he wrote on social media: “Made it to Birmingham, just.
“Today was tough and I’ll just have to see how the rest of the week goes.”
If everything goes to plan Mr Gracey should arrive in Banbury via the Warwick Road by late afternoon. He will conclude today’s leg of the route at the War Memorial in People’s Park with an estimated time of arrival of 6pm. Anyone who would like to join Mr Gracey as he walks through the town is very welcome.
After a night’s rest Mr Gracey will leave Banbury at 6.30am tomorrow, heading along the Oxford Road with the aim of reaching St Laurence’s Church in Caversfield for the Act of Remembrance at 11am.
Brandon Lewis, the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, is amongst those wishing Mr Gracey good luck in completing his challenge.
Mr Gracey has a fund raising page which can be found here.
