Latest action by resident doctors underway at Horton

The action lasts until 7am next Monday
Resident doctors – including those at the Horton General Hospital – began industrial action at 7am today. The action lasts until 7am next Monday and is part of an ongoing dispute between resident doctors and the government.
Waiting times at the Emergency Department are likely to be affected and disruption is expected to patient appointments, although people are asked to still turn up as scheduled unless they have been told the appointment won’t be happening.
The Oxford University Hospitals Trust – which runs the Horton General – says they are doing everything possible to prioritise patients with the highest clinical needs, along with those who have already waited a long time for their treatment.
To help ensure care is available to patients who need it most people are asked to use NHS 111 online, a local Pharmacy, Minor Injuries Unit or GP for all non-emergency healthcare needs.
Felicity Taylor-Drewe, Chief Operating Officer at the Trust, said: “As always, our top priority during this planned industrial action is ensuring patient safety while maintaining the highest standard of care.
“We are committed to keeping disruption to a minimum, and we have measures in place to ensure the safety and welfare of our patients and our staff.”
