Local tomfoolery for April Fool’s Day

01/04/2026

Jolly japes started the brand new month

It was a morning of tomfoolery around our area with people joining in with April Fools japes.

At Banbury FM we tried to persuade you to wear shorts and T-shirts for a mini-heat wave today, although the fictional forecast did include snow later.

The Mayor of Brackley revealed there was a secret tunnel that ran from underneath Brackley Town Hall, which lead directly to Tesco.    Councillor Bernie Tiller noted that guided tours would start this afternoon at 3pm.

The Hill Community Centre on Bretch Hill announced that, after months of planning, they were becoming the Hill Adventure Experience, offering activities such as indoor rock climbing and a weather dependant canoeing club – if someone forgot to close the skylights!

And information was shared on the Adderbury Community Group about the availability of Squirrel Eggs which could be purchased at £2 for a dozen.
