M40 to remain closed at least to the evening peak

25/03/2025

A collision happened late on Monday evening

Drivers heading out of the Banbury FM area should be aware that the M40 remains closed this lunchtime following a collision late last night in which two men lost their lives.

Two others sustained serious injuries and remain in hospital.

As reported on-air at Banbury FM through breakfast this morning, the motorway is shut in both directions between Bicester at junction 9 and Oxford at junction 8a whilst accident investigation work continues.

The Highways Agency says that due to the complex and protracted nature of the investigation work the road is likely to remain closed through the afternoon and into this evening’s peak.

Thames Valley Police are asking the public to avoid the area.
