Man arrested for dangerous driving following M40 crash

The northbound carriageway of the motorway was closed throughout Wednesday morning
Two men remain in hospital after a collision that closed the northbound M40 between junctions 10 and 11 for around ten hours on Wednesday morning (August 10). Following the crash a 33-year-old man from Warwickshire has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving causing serious injury.
Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses to the collision to come forward.
Three vehicles were initially involved in the crash, which happened at around 3.25am.
The man who’s been arrested was driving a grey Hyundai I 30. The collision also involved a yellow recovery truck and a Volvo lorry.
Shortly afterwards a fourth vehicle, a grey Ford transit van, collided with the now stationary grey Hyundai I 30.
A man in his fifties was taken to hospital with serious injuries. He remains in hospital in a stable condition. A man in his thirties also remains in hospital with minor injuries.
No one else was injured.
The northbound motorway remained closed for several hours due to investigation work and the recovery and clear-up operation.
Investigating officer, Sergeant Joe Clamp, of the Joint Operations Roads Policing Unit based at Bicester, said: “We are investigating the circumstances of this collision on the M40 yesterday.
“We are requesting the public’s help and would ask anyone who has not yet come forward as a witness to do so.
“We are also looking for anyone who may have dash-cam footage of the incident or the moments leading up to the incident to please check their footage and upload it to our online evidence site.
