A Section 60 stop and search order has now expired but has been replaced with an anti-social behaviour order

A Banbury man has been charged with five offences following the violent disorder which occurred in Orchard Way and Wimborne Avenue in town on Wednesday.

27-year-old John Mobey of Wimborne Avenue in Banbury was due to appear before Oxford Magistrates’ Court today, charged with affray, possession of a knife/sharp pointed article in a public place, racially aggravated public order, and two other public order offences.

The events of Wednesday saw weapons, including metal poles, machetes and knives, used in public.   This led to a Section 60 stop and search order being put in place in Neithrop and Ruscote.   This remained in force for 48 hours.

The order has now been replaced with a Section 34/35 antisocial behaviour order for the same area.   This allows police officers and PCSOs to require a person who has committed, or is likely to commit, anti-social behaviour to leave a specified area and not return for up to 48 hours.
